Hunt, Townsley lead Morrisville State cross country teams to 7th and 8th place finishes at CCOC Championships

Sophomore Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, P.A.) and senior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) were top finishers for the Morrisville State College women’s and men’s cross country teams at the CCOC Championships, Saturday held at Hobart College. The women’s team ran to an 8th place finish out of 16 teams, while the men finished 7th out of 17 teams.

Hunt led the women’s team, finishing 12th overall out of 144 runners with a time of 20:38, which is a full minute faster than her last race. Celine Eppolito (North Collins, N.Y.) finished next for Morrisville, placing 35th with a time of 21:41, which was also a much faster time than her previous race. Evelia Hehir (Washingtonville, N.Y.), Lindsay Clark(Central Square, N.Y.) and Cassie Dunbar (Verona, N.Y.)rounded out team scoring, finishing 48th, 81st and 103rd respectively.

Townsley finished first for the men’s team, crossing in 13th place out of 173 participants with a time of 27:53. Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.) finished next for the Mustangs in 30th place with a time of 28:49 with Austin Hirsch (Morrisville, N.Y.), Ben Sargrad (Manlius, N.Y.) and Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.) rounding out team scoring with 47th, 52nd and 70th place finishes, respectively.

Morrisville State competes next at the NEAC Championships held at Penn State Abington on October 27th at 11:00 AM.
