Ithaca rolls over Morrisville State field hockey

Host Ithaca College scored four times in each half to top visiting Morrisville State College field hockey by a final 8-1 Saturday afternoon in the season opener for the Mustangs.

Morrisville State’s lone goal was scored late in the second half by senior forward Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, N.Y.).

Julia Conroy led the Bombers with three goals while teammate Amber Foose added two more scores.

Ithaca held a 2-0 lead early on the in the contest, netting their first score just 4:40 in and adding a second tally just over a minute later as Conroy fired one past Morrisville State keeper Nicole Gregg (Lisle, N.Y.).

Gregg tallied one save in the first half of action for the Mustangs before being replaced by Ellen DePasquale (Vernon, N.Y.) who registered 11 saves in the second half.

Ithaca out shot Morrisville State 33-7 and held the 18-4 advantage in penalty corners.

The Mustangs return to the field Friday, Sep. 7th, hosting Wells College on Drake Field at 4 p.m.
