Senior forward Hope Krolewski (Bear Creek, Pa.) posted three goals and assisted another two to lead visiting Keystone College to a 6-3 victory over host Morrisville State College Wednesday evening in Morrisville.
Morrisville State drops to 1-6 overall, while Keystone picks up their second win of 2012 to improve to 2-4.
Three scored goals for the Mustangs, with Becky Meyer (Morrisville, N.Y.) and Kissandra Blaiser (Canastota, N.Y.) each posting a goal and assist. Sarah Angerer (Cooperstown, N.Y.) rounded out Morrisville State scoring with one.
Ellen DePasquale (Vernon, N.Y.) registered eight saves in the loss.
Three additional Giants tallied goals for Keystone, including Megan Fry (Limerick, Pa.), Krystal Wilber (Nicholson, Pa.), and Brittany Cardona (Honesdale, Pa.). Nichole Blank (Boyertown, Pa.) recorded the win in cage, turning away eight.
Keystone took a an early 1-0 lead just six minutes into the contest on an unassisted score by Wilber before Morrisville State responded nearly 12 minutes later as Meyer beat the defense down the center of the circle for the first Mustang tally of the night.
Krolewski broke free through the defense in the 28th minute, firing one past DePasquale for her first of three tallies on the night, giving Keystone the 2-1 advantage at the break.
The second half belonged to Keystone as the Giants dominated play early on. Forty-two seconds into the half, Krolewski fired one from the top of the circle that found Fry’s stick for a Giant score, and nearly 10 minutes later, tallied her second of the night as a shot ricocheted off the left post into the back of the net.
At 53:22 Krolewski carried the ball to the top of the circle and drilled the ball just inside the left post, giving Keystone a four goal cushion over the Mustangs.
Angerer was able to spark the Mustang offense down the stretch, sweeping an initial shot by Blaiser into the cage in the 62nd minute, but a quick tally by Keystone maintained the significant lead.
Blaiser rounded out all scoring on the night, deflecting a feed by Meyer with 1:08
to go.
Keystone held the 27-20 advantage in shots and 10-3 advantage in penalty corners on the night.
Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, traveling to Brockport for a 1 p.m. face-off, before returning on Sunday to Drake Field to host Becker at noon.
