Men's soccer battles to 1-1 tie against Cazenovia College

The Morrisville State men's soccer team scored first, but couldn't hold onto the lead, as they tied conference rival Cazenovia 1-1 this afternoon.



The Mustangs are now 1-4-3 overall and 1-1-2 in the NEAC, while the Wildcats are 3-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.



Morrisville State took control of the game early on, scoring the first goal 8:14 into the first half when Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, M.D.) slotted the ball past Wildcats goalkeeper, Riley Battaglini (Endicott, N.Y.), off of a pass from Gilroy Alvarez (Guatemala).



Cazenovia answered back at 23:08 when Gregorie Ducasse (Harrison, N.Y.) headed a chip pass from Joe Celeste (Glens Falls, N.Y.) past Mustangs goalkeeper Shane Sullivan (Sherrill, N.Y.).



Neither team was able to capitalize on opportunities through the remainder of regulation and two overtime periods.



Shane Sullivan records the tie for Morrisville State, tallying six saves.



Riley Battaglini records the save for the Wildcats, tallying nine saves.



Cazenovia College men's soccer is back in action on Wednesday, September 28 against Elmira College.



The Mustangs next travel to SUNY Canton on Wednesday, October 5 at 7 PM.
