Men's soccer defeated by D'Youville 2-1

The Morrisville State men's soccer team fell to the D'Youville Spartans this afternoon, 2-1.



The Mustangs record is now 3-8-3 overall and 3-3-2 in conference play.



D'Youville scored first after they were awarded a penalty kick after the Mustangs' were issued a red card for a handball inside the penalty box. Neil Janes took the penalty kick for the Spartans, beating goalkeeper Shane Sullivan at 23:03.



The first half ended with the Spartans on top 1-0, but they didn't take long to add their second goal of the game, when Josh Pfuntner scored off an assist from Ryan Camman less than a minute into the second half.



The Mustangs answered back with a goal at 53:18 when Sanley Pierre-Louis placed a pass from Joey Plummer past D'Youville goalkeeper Matt Smith, but that was the only goal Morrisville would score on the night, giving D'Youville the 2-1 win.



Matt Smith recorded the win for the Spartans tallying one save, while Shane Sullivan recorded the loss for the Mustangs with two saves.



The Morrisville State men's soccer team next travels to Wells College for a conference match on Saturday, October 22.
