Men's soccer plays to a 3-3 tie against Lancaster Bible

Despite taking a 1-0 lead into the second half, the Morrisville State Mustangs couldn’t hold off Lancaster Bible and settled for a 3-3 tie in the opening game of conference play. The Mustangs are now 1-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play.

The Mustangs took an early lead as Brian Culkin (West Islip, N.Y.) scored off a Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, M.D.) assist just over six minutes into the game.



The Mustangs and Chargers stayed at 1-0 until Miles Herron (Toto, Guam) scored the equalizer for the Chargers at 55:20.

Morrisville State answered back with two quick goals as Gilroy Alvarez (Guatemala) scored off a corner kick from Joey Plummer (Gates, N.Y.). Just over a minute later Danny Peckham (Webster, N.Y.) put a penalty kick past Chargers keeper, Tim Landis Jr.(Elizabethtown, P.A.) to put the Mustangs ahead 3-1.

The Chargers kept coming and within 15 minutes had once again tied the game with goals from Herron and Richard Westerlund (Ellicott City, M.D.).

The Mustangs and Chargers remained scoreless through the two overtimes.

Tim Landis Jr. recorded the tie in net for the Chargers, playing the full 110 minutes tallying nine saves. The Mustangs goalkeeper Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) recorded the tie, tallying four saves and also playing the full 110 minutes.

The Morrisville State men’s soccer team returns to action home against non-conference opponent Oswego State on Wednesday, September 12 at 4 p.m.
