Morrisville State cross country starts season with second place finish

Junior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, NY) led the men's team to a second place finish at the SUNY IT Wildcat Cross Country Invitational, Saturday in Utica.



Townsley finished seventh overall with a time of 21:05. Benjamin Sargrad (Manlius, N.Y.) was the next Mustang to cross the finish line, placing 14th with a time of 21:49.7 followed closely by Gregory Johnsmeyer (West Hurley, N.Y.) who placed 16th with a time of 21:53.6. Dakota Nelson (Smyrna, N.Y.) and Malcolm Legloahec (Brunswick, M.E.) rounded out the team scoring, finishing 25th and 41st, respectively.



D'Ashley Landry (Lake Grove, N.Y.) led the women's team to a ninth place finish, crossing in 24th place in her first collegiate race with a time of 25:02.3. Jessica Gurda (Warwick Valley, N.Y.) finished in 38th place with a time of 26:16.9 with Hillary Courtwright (Chittenango, N.Y.) finishing close behind in 40th place with a time of 26:28.9. Brittany Ellis (Camillus, NY) and Danielle Thurston (Canastota, N.Y.) rounded out team scoring with 49th and 67th place finishes, respectively.



Morrisville State is on the road at SUNY Cobleskill for the SUNY Cobleskill Invitational on Saturday, September 10.
