Morrisville State field hockey falls 2-1 to Wells on late goal

Morrisville State College field hockey fell in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon to host Wells College on a late second half score by Brittany Stanton, in Aurora.



Morrisville State's Brandi Rafalko (Great Meadow, N.J.) put the lone Mustang score into the net 13:06 into the first half, firing a penalty stroke over the shoulder of Wells keeper, Amanda Catalano.



Minutes later the Express responded, evening the contest at one, as Courtney Grosser redirected a penalty corner shot past Laura Blumenfeld (Rockland, N.Y.) for the tally.



With time winding down in the contest, Wells drew three straight corner opportunities and Stanton converted on the third, firing a shot from the top of the circle past Blumenfeld for the go ahead score.



Blumenfeld recorded the loss in net, tallying one save, as Morrisville State dropped to 0-1.



Catalano posted six saves, as the Mustangs held the 10-5 advantage in shots.



Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday at Keystone College.
