Morrisville State hockey falls to #2 Oswego, 4-2

Visiting No. 2 nationally ranked SUNY Oswego remained undefeated in conference action Saturday night, posting a 4-2 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) hockey victory over host Morrisville State College in Morrisville.



Oswego took a 2-0 lead midway through the first period, firing two scores past Morrisville State goaltender, Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC), within two minutes of one another. Tim Carr (Burlington, ONT) broke free to net a shorthanded score at the 7:34 mark before Jon Whitelaw (Huntsville, ONT) added a second Laker score from the blue line over the glove of Relkoff at 8:56 for the two goal advantage.



Morrisville State posted their first score 5:37 into the second period, as Tyler Swan (Barrie, ONT) connected on a feed from behind the net from Geoff Matzel (Chittenango, NY) and Alex Tillaart (Ashburn, ONT) to cut the Laker lead to one.



Less than two minutes later, a costly Mustang penalty led to the third Oswego score, a power play by Justin Fox (Whitby, ONT) for the 3-1 advantage.



Hank Van Boxmeer (Orange, CA) added Oswego's second power play score of the night 1:33 into the third period, and the Mustangs remained scoreless until the 16th minute when Swan posted his second of the night on a power play opportunity to cut the lead to two.



Paul Beckwith (Cleveland, OH) secured the win for the Lakers, making 25 total stops, including nine in the final frame, as Oswego remained undefeated at 9-0-0, 6-0-0 in SUNYAC action.



Relkoff recorded the loss between the pipes, saving 35, as Morrisville State drops to 4-3-0 overall, 4-2-0 in conference play.



The Mustangs return to the ice December 3 at Buffalo State College.
