Morrisville State hockey falls to Geneseo 4-1

Devon Rice registered a goal and assisted on another to lead the visiting SUNY Geneseo Knights to a 4-1 victory over the host Morrisville State Mustangs in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) hockey action Saturday night in Morrisville.

With the win, Geneseo improves to 6-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play, while the Mustangs drop to 1-11-1 overall and 1-7 in SUNYAC action.

Morrisville was led by Ryan Marcuz (Richmond Hill, Ont.) who scored the lone goal of the contest for the Mustangs. Mike Dolman (Hawthorne, N.J.) and Jamie Nelson (Stratford, Ont.) each earned an assist for the goal.

Jakob Rasmussen recorded the loss between the pipes, turning away 38, including 17 in the second period.

Geneseo also got numbers from Colin de Jersey, Ryan Bulach and Jonathan Sucese who each added a goal apiece. Carson Schell, Zachary Vit, Rich Manley and David Ripple all tallied an assist on the night.

Bryan Haude posted the victory in net for the Knights, turning away 41, which turned out to be the difference maker as Morrisville and Geneseo each took 42 shots on goal.

After playing a scoreless first period, Geneseo scored their first goal when de Jersey placed a Devon Rice pass past Mustang goalkeeper, Rasmussen at 5:16. Bulach struck next for the Knights on a power play goal at 12:00.

The third period was much of the same, as Geneseo notched two more goals before the Mustangs could find the back of the net on a power play goal at 14:33.

Morrisville State returns to the ice on Friday, December 7th, as they host Newmann University in non conference action.
