Morrisville State hockey falls to Neumann 4-1

Neumann University had eight different players tally points, as they defeated Morrisville State 4-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.

With the loss, the Mustangs drop to 1-12-2 overall and 1-7 in conference play.

Jakob Rasmussen (Vellentuna, Swe.) suffered the loss in net for the Mustangs, turning away 31 as Morrisville held the 41-35 edge in shots on goal.

Neumann was led by Chris Cowie, who tallied two assists, while Dan McDougall, Jordan Zalba, Jon Low and D’Lane Sather each recorded an assist. Chris Bournazos, Jake Kratz, Dave Gervais and Brandon Gagne each tallied a goal.

Braely Torris and Ben Curley combined for the win, recording 13 and 27 saves, respectively.

Neumann University jumped to an early one goal lead, when Craig Cowie connected with Chris Bournazos for a breakaway goal at 2:35 in the first period.

Jake Kratz put Neumann up by two just 1:44 into the second period when he shot in a loose puck in front of the net, as Morrisville was just returning to full strength after a Mustang penalty.

Morrisville State pulled within one when Mike Dolman (Hawthorne, N.J) finished a series from Dalton Gilbert (Alta Loma, C.A.) and Jamie Nelson (Stratford, Ont.) at 14:03 in the second period.

Neumann added two more in the third period to seal the win, getting goals from Dave Gervais and Brandon Gagne.

Morrisville State returns to the ice on January 11, 2013 when they host Elmira College at 7PM.
