Morrisville State hockey season ends, suffers heartbreaking overtime loss in SUNYAC quarterfinals

Jared Docking scored 11:58 into the overtime period to lift fourth seed SUNY Plattsburgh past visiting fifth seed Morrisville State College in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship Tournament Quarterfinal Wednesday night in Plattsburgh.



Morrisville State concludes the season with an 11-13-1 overall record, making their second SUNYAC Tournament appearance. Plattsburgh (18-7-1) advances to face SUNY Geneseo on Saturday in the semi-final round.



Morrisville State trailed 2-0 midway through the second before Tyler Swann (Barrie, ONT) put the Mustangs on the board nearly 14 minutes into the period.



Curtis Renaud (Carlisle, ONT) tallied the equalizer 5:54 into the third, before Derek Matheson (Durham, ONT) gave the Mustangs their only lead of the night firing one past Josh Leis from the left side of the zone at the 12 minute mark.



Swann assisted both scores.



Just over a minute later, the Cardinals tied the contest at three forcing the overtime period, where Docking recorded the wrap-around game winning tally.



Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC) recorded 40 saves in net in the loss, including 14 in the overtime period for the Mustangs.
