Morrisville State hunt seat team qualifies two for Regional Championships; earns Reserve Team honors

The Morrisville State College hunt seat team hosted two Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Invitationals over the weekend, placing third in Saturday's show and earning reserve team honors on Sunday.



Catherine O'Donnell (Huntington, NY) and Brianna Drake (Merrick, NY) qualified for the regional championship show at the end of the season in the novice fences and advanced walk trot canter classes, respectively.



Six earned blue ribbons for the Mustangs on Saturday, as Morrisville State compiled 35 team points. Skidmore won the show with 45 points, followed by Colgate with 42.



Teal Pederson (Manorville, NY) and Keely O'Hara (Cazenovia, NY) each posted top honors in the open equitation on the flat class, while Allison Soukop (Pine Bush, NY) was first in novice equitation over fences.



Bobbi Jean Carney (Hauppauge, NY) also earned the blue ribbon in novice equitation over fences, while Nicole Lefebvre (Clifton Park, NY) topped all riders in the advanced walk trot canter class.



Cherie Shanley (Palenville, NY) took the top spot in the beginner walk trot canter class for the Mustangs.



On Sunday, Rachel Kenney (Esperance, NY) showed a collegiate best, topping all riders for the blue ribbon in the intermediate equitation on the flat and over fences classes, earning high point rider honors, and leading Morrisville State to reserve show team honors.



Skidmore earned high point team honors for the show, compiling 47 team points, while Morrisville State followed with 40. Cobleskill and Hartwick tied for third with 32.



Seven additional riders took home top class honors, including O'Hara with a first place in the open equitation over fences class. O'Donnell, Kathryn Curto (Bohemia, NY) and Ashley Bliss (Walworth, NY) each earned the blue ribbon in the novice equitation over fences class.



Amanda Varall (Bohemia, NY) and Lefebvre wrapped up top place winners with firsts in the advanced walk trot canter class.



Morrisville State returns to the riding arena Saturday, traveling to Skidmore to wrap up the first half of the season's schedule.
