Morrisville State men charge past Wells for 73-54 victory

The Morrisville State College men's basketball posted their sixth straight conference win Wednesday night, netting a 73-54 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over visiting Wells College in Morrisville.



Morrisville State improves to 10-7 overall, and remains undefeated in conference play at 7-0. Wells drops to 7-11 overall, 4-4 in NEAC action.



Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, N.Y.) led all scorers on the night with 14 points, adding 10 assists for the double-double, while snagging six rebounds. Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Hodges Sneed (Syracuse, N.Y.) each added 11, with Sneed controlling the boards for the Mustangs at eight. Andrew Lucio (Solvay, N.Y.) contributed nine points in the win, adding five rebounds and four assists.



Dave Foltz (Auburn, N.Y.) led Wells with 10 points and three assists, while Corey Lewis (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) added nine points.



Both teams were neck and neck until Hanks drained one from downtown with 3:21 to go in the first half, sparking an 11-2 run by the Mustangs for a 12 point advantage late in the period. EJ Taylor (Tampa Bay, Fla.) cut the lead to nine for the Express, hitting one from behind the arc with just six seconds to go, as Morrisville State headed into the locker room with the 40-31 advantage.



In the second, Wells was able to creep to within seven, but Morrisville State's offensive game exploded building up as many as a 21 point advantage behind five tre's, to secure the conference win.



The Mustangs held the slim 42-35 advantage on the glass, and outshot the Express 43 percent to 36. Morrisville State was 9-for-24 from behind the arc, while Wells hit just 4-of-18 on the night.



Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, traveling to rival Cazenovia for a Route 20 conference showdown.
