Nick Kulas (Parma, MI) scored with 4:05 to go in the final period to give the Morrisville State College Mustangs the 3-2 upset victory over State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponent SUNY Geneseo Saturday night in Morrisville.

Taylor Vince (Barrie, ONT) broke the scoreless tie 18:00 into the second period for Morrisville State, netting the goal immediately off the face-off win by Curtis Renaud (Carlisle, ONT).

In the third, Geoff Matzel (Chittenango, NY) beat Cory Gershon (Spring Valley, NY) just 1:28 in to extend the Mustang lead to two before Geneseo took advantage of a 5-on-3 opportunity with a power play score at 8:35 from Zachary Vit (Villanova, PA).

Six minutes later Vit evened the contest at two with his second of the night, netting the score from the right of the ice with just over five minutes remaining in the period.

Morrisville State regained the lead on a redirection by Kulas from an initial shot by Tom Longland (Dunnville, ONT) at 15:55.

Geneseo pulled Gershon with 1:15 remaining for the extra man, and with 50 seconds to go, Morrisville State was whistled for a delay of game penalty, but the Mustangs netminder, Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC) withheld the Knights attack to secure the win.

Relkoff turned away 47, including 23 in the final period, as Morrisville State improved to 2-1-0 overall, 2-0-0 in SUNYAC action.

Goshen made 40 stops in net for the Ice Knights, as Geneseo dropped their first of the season to 3-1-1, 2-1-0 in SUNYAC play.

Morrisville State returns to the ice Friday at Potsdam.
