Morrisville State men open 2010-11 campaign with 78-67 loss to Clarkson

The Morrisville State College men's basketball team opened the 2010-2011 season campaign Monday night with a loss to visiting Clarkson University by a 78-67 final in Morrisville.



Morrisville State led by one with 9:40 to go in the first half before Clarkson went on a 14-2 run to take a 36-27 lead at the half.



In the second, Morrisville State pulled to within five, but the Golden Knights hit key free throws down the stretch to secure the non-conference victory.



Morrisville State's Dwayne Wade (Beacon, NY) led all scorers with 26 on the night, adding seven rebounds and four steals to lead the Mustangs efforts. Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, NY) added nine in his collegiate debut along with four assists and three steals, while teammates Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY) and Darren Green (Greece, NY) each tallied seven.



Three netted double figures for Clarkson, with George Koduah (Accra, Ghana) leading the Golden Knights with 18 points and eight boards. Feliz Llanos (Queens, NY) and Rey Jefferson (Budd Lake, NJ) added 13 and 12, respectively, with Jefferson dishing out four assists.



Morrisville State (0-1) returns to the court Friday at the Hilbert College Tip-off Tournament.
