Morrisville State men open season 7th overall at SUNYIT Invite

The Morrisville State College men’s cross country team opened the 2013 season Saturday with a 7th place finish overall at the SUNYIT Short Course Invitational in Marcy.

Sophomore Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.) led the Mustang efforts with a 36th overall finish, crossing the line for the 6K race in 21:48, as Morrisville State compiled 227 scoring points.

Senior Ben Sargrad (Manlius, N.Y.) was second to score for Morrisville State, crossing in 40th position at 22:11, while newcomer Byron Evans (Cazenovia, N.Y.) was close behind in 46th position with a time of 22:47.

Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.) and Erick Faherty (Vernon, N.Y.) rounded out scoring, finishing in 22:53 and 23:42 respectively.

SUNY ESF won the 12 team invitational with 33 team points.

Morrisville State returns to the courses Saturday at Oswego.
