Morrisville State men win third straight, hand Penn State Berks 97-81 NEAC loss

Freshman forward, Darren Green (Greece, NY) netted a collegiate best 20 points to lead visiting Morrisville State College men's basketball to its third straight victory, a 97-81 defeat of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Penn State Berks, Sunday afternoon in Reading, Pennsylvania.



With the win, the Mustangs improve to 9-11 overall and pull even in conference action at 7-7, moving up to sixth position overall in NEAC standings. Penn State Berks drop to7-13 overall, 7-7 in NEAC play and drop to seventh in conference standings.



Morrisville State went on a 15-5 run midway through the first twenty, to take a 56-40 lead at the break fueled by a combined 26 points from Green and Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, NY).



In the second, the Mustangs held as many as a 26 point advantage over the Nittany Lions and held on to claim the conference win.



Ater added eight rebounds to his game total 18 points, as three additional teammates were in double digits, including Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY) with 15, hitting 4-of-9 from behind the arc. Dwayne Wade (Beacon, NY) added 13 points and three assists while Wayne Turner (Brooklyn, NY) contributed 12, grabbing nine boards and dishing out seven assists.



Thomas Smith led the Nittany Lions with 20 points and 12 boards in the loss.



Morrisville State returns to the court Wednesday, hosting Wells College at 7 p.m.
