The Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team opened the 2012 season Saturday afternoon with a 10-8 non-conference victory over host SUNY Brockport at Nazareth College in Rochester.

Freshman Jeremy Beresovoy (Jamesville, N.Y.) led Morrisville State with four goals, as Andrew Stein (Oswego, N.Y.) added three and assisted another in the win. Dean Priest (Hinesburg, Vt.) recorded a team high four assists in the win. Tom Longland (Dunnville, Ont.) had a team best five ground balls.

Senior goalkeeper, Michael Hinchey (Kingston, N.Y.), recorded the win between the pipes, saving 11.

Jesse Elliot had four goals to lead the Golden Eagles, as four additional teammates added one score apiece. Corey Banwaree had 10 saves in the loss for Brockport.

Morrisville State posted a 3-1 lead after one behind scores from Beresovoy and Stein before claiming the 5-4 advantage at the half, as Richie Fischer (Rochester, N.Y.) and David Middlemore (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) each found the back of the net for Morrisville.

In the third, Priest found Beresovoy for two quick tallies, including one on a man advantage opportunity, as Morrisville State headed into the final stance with a 7-5 lead.

Early in the fourth, Riley Austin brought Brockport to within one, but Stein found Beresovoy just over a minute later to regain the two goal advantage, and added his own unassisted tally 61 seconds later as Morrisville State held the 9-6 lead with 10 minutes to go.

After a Brockport tally with 8:47 to go to cut the lead to two, Morrisville State's Jack Martocello (Miller Place, N.Y.) put the game away with an unassisted score.

Brockport held the 40-27 advantage in shots and 38-18 advantage in ground balls.

Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, hosting Oswego State at 11 p.m. on Drake Field on the Morrisville State campus.
