Morrisville State men's soccer downs SUNY Oswego 2-1

The Morrisville State College men’s soccer team held on to defeat visiting SUNY Oswego, 2-1 in non-conference play Wednesday afternoon. The Mustangs improve to 2-2-1 on the season overall with the win.

Jacob Chase (Cooperstown,N.Y.) tallied both goals for the Mustangs, his second and third of the season. At 38:59 Chase finished a rebound off of the Lakers keeper, PJ Goodwin, giving Morrisville State a one goal lead going into half time. Chris Brocher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) tallied the assist on the goal.

Chase struck again at 58:18 when he placed a pass from Joey Plummer (Gates, N.Y.) into the back of the net.

SUNY Oswego fought to within one with 12 minutes left in the game when Ryan Purdy scored off a Mike Naab pass. The Mustangs, however, were able to hold off the Lakers and secure the win.

Goodwin recorded the loss for the Lakers with four saves, while Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) recorded the win for the Mustangs with eight saves.

Morrisville State is back in action this weekend at home against conference rival SUNY IT on Saturday at 3:00 pm on Drake Field.
