Morrisville State men's soccer overpower Penn State Berks 4-1

The Mustangs overpowered the Nittany Lions' 4-1 today in Morrisville. The team's overall record becomes 6-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in NEAC play.



The Mustangs took the lead 15 minutes into the game when Erik Whitcombe (Ogdensburg, NY) scored, assisted by Tony Vorndran (Millville, NJ). Two minutes later Nittany Lions' Matthew Kelly (Norristown, PA) tied the game back up, assisted by Zachery Alesi (Kutztown, PA).



The Mustangs took the lead again 30 minutes into the first half by an own goal.



Lions' Kelly received a red card 55 minutes into the game which led to a Morrisville penalty kick by Andrew Brobbey (Bronx, NY) to add the third goal. Andrew Stein (Oswego, NY) passed the ball to Brobbey, who scored the fourth Mustangs' goal with 34 minutes left in the game.



Penn State Berks' goalkeeper Jonathan Jablonka (Parsippany, NJ) recorded the loss, tallying four goals against, 12 saves and 90 minutes of play.



Shane Sullivan (Sherrill, NY) recorded the victory for the Mustangs, playing 70 minutes, saving two and allowing only one goal through. Relieving Sullivan with 20 minutes left in the game, Joe Bunzey (Afton, NY) tallied one save.



The Mustangs return to the field tomorrow to face Penn State Abington on Drake Field at 2:30 p.m.
