Morrisville State men's soccer tops Hilbert 2-1

After playing a scoreless first half against Hilbert College the Mustangs struck twice in the second half and held off a late run to win 2-1 in the consolation game of the Potsdam College Cup.



Jacob Chase (Cooperstown, N.Y.) put Morrisville State on the board first at 50:54 with the assist going to Tom Huber (West Islip, N.Y.). The Mustangs second goal came off a corner kick at 78:28 when Sean Shields (Rotterdam, N.Y.) scored off the cross by Karim Ouedraogo (Burkina Faso).

Hilbert made a late surge, scoring with less than three minutes left in the game to bring the score to 2-1. Jordan Lynch (Brampton, ONT) notched the goal for the Hawks.

Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) earned his first collegiate win for the Mustangs, making seven saves in 90 minutes of play.

Jeremy Kraska (Elmira, N.Y.) tallied the loss for the Bears, recording four saves.

Morrisville State (1-1) returns to action in their home opener against R.I.T. on Wednesday, September 5 at 4 P.M. on Drake Field.
