Morrisville State places four at Oneonta State Wrestling Invitational

Four Morrisville State College wrestlers placed fourth or higher at the 2010 Oneonta State Red Dragon Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, posting a sixth place team finish with 76.5 points.



Justin Delamothe (Cross River, NY) posted a fourth place overall finish in the 125 pound weight class, recording three victories with pins. In the first round, Delamothe pinned his Niagara CC opponent in 58 seconds and followed with a pin in 1:53 over RIT in the next round. After posting a 6-8 loss to Johns Hopkins University, Delamothe defeated his Southern Maine opponent with a pin in 4:17 before falling to WPI in the final round for fourth place.



At 141 pounds, Dante Epps (Uniondale, NY) wrestled his way to a fourth place finish with a 5-2 record. In the first round, Epps posted a technical fall (16-0) over Albany Club, before pinning his Scranton opponent in 2:10. Falling in the next round, Epps posted three straight victories in the wrestle back round, including a 6-2 decision over third ranked Cortland opponent, Adam Chernaskey, for the fourth place finish.



Nate Cross (Hudson Falls, NY) finished fourth overall in the 165 pound weight class, compiling three wins with two major decisions and a pin. In the opening round, Cross posted a major decision (14-4) victory over Johns Hopkins opponent, before posting his second major (9-1) over Gettysburg. Falling by just one point in the next round, Cross posted a pin in just 21 seconds in the wrestle backs to claim fourth place.



Wheeler Brunschmid (Sherburne, NY) went undefeated on the day, topping the 184 pound weight class brackets with a record of 4-0. In the first round, Brunschmid posted a 9-3 decision over Albany opponent, before posting a 5-3 decision over Oneonta. He defeated Jacob Smith from Oneonta 4-2 to advance to the championship round, beating Cortland opponent Chris Brown by a 7-4 decision.



Johns Hopkins University won the tournament with 134 team points, followed by Oneonta with 112.5, Cortland with 110, Southern Maine 110, Morrisville 76.5, Gettysburg 75, RIT 50.5, WPI 47, Scranton 15 and Albany.



Morrisville State returns to the mats December 1st at Cortland.
