Morrisville State volleyball drops two in season opener

The Morrisville State College women's volleyball team fell in two matches Saturday afternoon, the first a 3-0 decision to D'Youville followed by a 3-0 decision to Hilbert, in the 2011 season opener at D'Youville College in Buffalo.



In the first of the day, Morrisville State dropped three straight with scores of 13-25, 14-25, and 6-25 to D'Youville. Tiffany Jones-Maxwell (Hamilton, NY) led the Mustangs with four kills, while teammate Meghan Robinson (Cazenovia, NY) added three of her own, also compiling seven assists. Lindsay Easterly (Cazenovia, NY) had a team high nine digs.



In the next match against Hilbert, Jones-Maxwell and Easterly combined for six of 10 team kills while Robinson tallied seven assists and led the team with five digs, as Morrisville State fell 9-25, 23-25 and 23-25 in the contest.



Morrisville State returns to the court Sunday at Alfred University for a tri-match against Alfred and Penn College.
