Morrisville State volleyball place 5th in the SUNY Oswego Tournament

The Mustangs dropped two games on Oct. 8 and split 1-1 today in the SUNY Oswego Tournament. The team's record becomes 6-15 overall. Sarah Keyser (Honeoye, NY) made the All-Tournament Team for the Mustangs.



In the first match of the Tournament for Morrisville, the Lakers' beat them 3-0. The set scores were 17-25, 22-25, and 19-25. Keyser had one solo block and four kills. Angelina Ciaschi (Ithaca, NY) recorded 10 defensive digs and three kills. Deanna Zbikowski (North Syracuse, NY) tallied one kill, six defensive digs, two serve aces, and 12 assists. The Mustangs' dropped the second match of the day to Medialle College 3-0. The set scores were 18-25, 11-25, and 18-25.



Returning to the court today, Morrisville struggled against D'Youville College 3-2. The Mustangs' won the first set 25-19. D'Youville came back to win the second set 25-17. The Mustangs' won the third set 25-22. D'Youville tied it back up two all with the 25-19 win. The fifth set was won by D'Youville 15-6.



Nicole Wright (Dryden, NY) had a high 34 defensive digs, two assisted blocks, one solo ace, and seven kills. Devan Hirst (Cobleskill, NY) tallied 21 defensive digs. Keyser had three solo blocks and six kills. Ciaschi tallied seven kills, five serve aces, seven digs and one solo block. Alexis Hansen (Taberg, NY) recorded six kills, one dig, one solo block, and two assisted blocks.



Morrisville took the final match from Utica College 3-0. The set scores were 25-6, 25-23, and 25-15. Keyser recorded one serve ace, five kills, one dig, two solo blocks, and one assisted block. Wright had 10 kills, one assist, six digs, one solo block and one assisted block. Hirst tallied 14 defensive digs. Ciaschi recorded six kills and 10 defensive digs.



Morrisville returns home on Oct. 14 to face Hartwick College at 8 p.m. The team is also hosting the NEAC pool play the weekend on Oct. 16 and 17 in the John W. Stewart Activities Center (STUAC).
