Morrisville State volleyball splits at Oswego Tournament

Visiting Morrisville State College women's volleyball posted a win over host Oswego State, before falling to D'Youville College in the first round of the Oswego State Tournament Friday night in Oswego.



In a tight and even match, the Mustangs fell in the first set 26-24 before rebounding to claim the next two straight for the 2-1 match lead with scores of 26-24, 25-14. Oswego evened the series 2-2 with a 25-21 set win in the fourth, but it was Morrisville State that pulled out the match victory with the 16-14 set win in the fifth game.



Tiffany Jones-Maxwell (Hamilton, NY) paced the Mustangs with a match high 25 kills, adding five digs and two solo blocks, while teammate Megan Robinson (Cazenovia, NY) added seven kills, posting 34 assists. Lindsay Easterly (Cazenovia, NY) had eight kills for the Mustangs, while serving up four aces and recording a team best 26 defensive digs.



In the second of the night, Morrisville State dropped three straight with scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-15 to D'Youville.



Jones-Maxwell had 10 kills to lead Morrisville State while Easterly added six. Alexis Hanson (Taberg, NY) had five kills. Robinson added 15 assists to her tallies on the day, adding 10 digs to Easterly's 11.



Morrisville State returns to the court tomorrow for the second round of tournament play. The bracket has not been announced at the time of sending.
