Morrisville State women net second straight victory, escape Wells College with 44-42 win

The Morrisville State College women's basketball team picked up their second straight victory Wednesday night, topping visiting North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent, Wells College, 44-42 in Morrisville.



Morrisville State improves to 5-16 overall with the win, 5-13 in conference action, while Wells drops to 3-18 overall, 3-15 in NEAC play.



Morrisville State led by as many as nine midway through the second period, but Wells battled back with a 10-2 run to get back in the game. Notched at 42 with less than a minute to go, Keyla Arce (Bronx, NY) found Jenna March (Munnsville, NY) wide open under the basket for the go-ahead lay-up with 29 seconds remaining to give Morrisville State, giving Morrisville State the two point advantage.



Wells had the opportunity to even the contest with four seconds remaining, but missed two free throws, giving the Mustangs their fifth conference victory of the season.



Wells Ashley Roser (Taberg, NY) led all scorers with 26 points on the night, adding 14 rebounds and a game high five blocks while teammate Kristen Ryan (Syracuse, NY) added 11 points.



Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) led Morrisville State with 13 points, adding nine rebounds, four assists and six steals, as teammate Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) netted 10 points and grabbed seven boards.



Akiella Parks (Poughkeepsie, NY) controlled the offensive boards for the Mustangs, grabbing eight (nine total on the night). March finished the contest with six points and four rebounds.



Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, hosting Wilson College at 6 p.m.
