Morrisville State women post fifth straight victory, top Lancaster Bible 21-9

The Morrisville State College women's lacrosse team notched their fifth straight victory Saturday afternoon, topping host Lancaster Bible College 21-9 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West action in Lancaster.



Morrisville State improves to 7-4 overall, and remain undefeated in conference play at 5-0. The Chargers fall to 0-12, 0-7 in NAC action.



Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.) and Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, N.Y.) each tallied five goals to lead Morrisville State to the victory, as eight additional teammates added points on the day, including Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, N.Y.) who added three scores. Alison Falkenburgh (Bayport, N.Y.) had a team high four assists.



Danielle Puzio (Holbrook, N.Y.) saved nine to record the win in net, including six in the second half.



Lancaster Bible had a team high five goal performance from Rebekah Weidel, with three additional tallies coming from Whitney Heise.



Becky Meyer registered the loss in net, making 13 stops, 11 in the first half, as Morrisville State out shot the Chargers 46 to 24 in the contest.



Morrisville State jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the contest, before the Chargers rallied off three straight to cut the lead to two, midway through the opening half.



The Mustangs then rattled off four straight in the final 11 minutes of the half to claim the 10-5 lead at the break.



In the second, Morrisville State converted 11-of-18 shots into scores, including three from Hartnett, and limited Lancaster Bible to just four goals, as they claimed the 21-9 conference win.



Morrisville State returns to the field tomorrow, traveling to conference opponent Wilson College for a 1 p.m. start.
