Morrisville State women post third straight victory; defeat Penn State Berks 57-51

Visiting Morrisville State College women's basketball team notched their third straight victory Saturday afternoon, topping Penn State Berks 57-51 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action in Reading.

Morrisville State improves to 5-10 overall, and pulls even at 4-4 in conference play, while Berks dropped to 3-11, 2-6 in the NEAC.



Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) dominated the paint for the Mustangs to post a 26 point, 11 rebound performance, while teammate Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) added 15 points and five rebounds, while dishing out four assists and posting two steals. Jennel Paul (Brooklyn, NY) contributed eight points in the victory.



Three tallied double figures for the Nittany Lions, including Kaelin Reed and Keisha Robinson who each posted 12 points in the loss with Ashley Kenny adding 11 points and four assists. Robinson dished out five assists and had a game high seven steals. Kaley Kinek had a team high eight rebounds and three assists.



Morrisville State led 27-23 at the half, before Berks fought back to tie the contest late in the second on a layup by Robinson with just over five minutes remaining.



Scott posted four straight points to regain the four point lead for Morrisville State with 1:31 to go before the Mustangs sealed the win by converting 3-of-4 free throw opportunities in the final 23 seconds.



Morrisville State returns to the court Wednesday, hosting Wells College in a conference match-up at 7 p.m.
