Morrisville State women stage comeback attempt, but fall short to Cobleskill 59-54

The Morrisville State College women's basketball team staged a last minute comeback attempt, but fell short Wednesday night to host SUNY Cobleskill, in a 59-54 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game in Cobleskill.



The women trailed by 16 with two minutes remaining on the clock before hitting four straight scores, three from behind the arc, to cut the lead to five, but fell short on time as the Fighting Tigers picked up the win.



Simoine Rogers (Bronx, NY) led the Mustangs with 19 points, including hitting 3-of-5 from behind the arc, while collecting nine rebounds and dishing out four assists. Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) and Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) also were in double figures for the Mustangs, adding 16 and 10 points respectively. Townsend added eight boards to her tallies.



Tanaysha Augustine led Cobleskill with 20 points and 12 rebounds, as Kaitlin Myers contributed 19 points, eight boards.



Morrisville State drops to 2-5 overall, 2-3 in conference action. They return to the floor Saturday, hosting SUNY IT at 1 p.m. before the mid-season holiday break.
