Morrisville State Women's basketball team wins second straight game over SUNY Canton, 70-51

The Morrisville State College women's basketball team defeated visiting SUNY Canton Thursday evening, 70-51 in a non-conference matchup.



The Mustangs are now 9-13 overall and 7-7 in the Northeastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) while the Kangaroos dropped to 6-14.



Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) led the Mustangs with 13 points, eight rebounds and three steals while Dyshea Smiley (Harlem, NY) had 12 points, three rebounds and two steals. Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) and Tierra Hollins-Hill (Bronx, NY) both added 11 points and nine and five boards respectively.



Tricia Boland and Karina Stanford led Canton with 11 points each and two and nine boards respectively.



The Mustangs went into halftime 40-26 after trailing early in the first half. Morrisville opened up the second half with a 15-1 run in the first seven minutes of the half. The Mustangs hit 7 of 13 foul shots and 3 of 8 from behind the arc in the half.



Morrisville State is back in action Saturday afternoon for the conference double-header against Cazenovia College at 3 p.m.
