Morrisville State women's lacrosse dominates Penn State Abington, 21-2

The Morrisville State College women's lacrosse team dominated visiting Penn State Abington Sunday afternoon, by a 21-2 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) final in Morrisville.



The Mustangs improve to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while the Nittany Lions drop to 0-6 and 0-2 in conference play.



Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with five goals and two assists, while Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, N.Y), Lesa Ward (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) and Jessica Young (Clifton Park, N.Y.) each added three goals apiece. Erin Rundle (Marathon, N.Y.) and Alison Falkenburgh (Bayport, N.Y.) each netted two goals apiece. Falkenburgh also had four assists while Hartnett grabbed seven groundballs in the game. Danielle Puzio (Holbrook, N.Y.) had seven saves for the win between the pipes.



The Nittany Lions had scores from Nicole Hayes and Danielle Savoni who each tallied one apiece. Hayes also grabbed five groundballs while Alexis Vanderslice picked up four. Shreya Soni had six saves in goal for the Lions.



Morrisville dominated Penn State Abington in ground balls 29-19 and shots, 33-12. The Nittany Lions had 24 turnovers in the game while the Mustangs only had 19. Morrisville led the game 14-0 at halftime, scoring their first goal in the first thirty seconds of play.



Before the game seniors Hartnett and Falkenburgh were honored.



The Mustangs return to the field Tuesday to take on SUNY Canton at 4 p.m. on Drake Field.
