Morrisville State women's lacrosse soars over the College of St. Elizabeth, 21-5

The Morrisville State College women's lacrosse team handed the College of St. Elizabeth a 21-5 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) loss Saturday early afternoon, in Morrisville. The Mustangs improve to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Soaring Eagles drop to 1-4, 0-1 in NEAC play. Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.) and Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with five goals apiece, while Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, N.Y) added four. Wood and Alison Falkenburgh (Bayport, N.Y.) each tallied three assists, as Falkenburgh grabbed five groundballs while Anderson picked up four. Danielle Puzio (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded the win between the pipes with three saves in 43 minutes of play. Marissa Buchanan (Waterville, N.Y.) had two saves in the final 16 minutes of play. The Soaring Eagles were led by Meghan Murray who scored three goals, while Cassidy Crane and Christina Rios added two and one goal, respectively. Barbara Beresova recorded the loss in goal with 10 saves. Morrisville edged St. Elizabeth in ground balls 22-14 and dominated shots, 41-12. The Soaring Eagles had 23 turnovers in the game while the Mustangs only had 12. Morrisville led the game 14-2 at halftime, scoring 11 of the 14 unanswered in the last 16 minutes of the half. The Mustangs return to the field tomorrow to take on Penn State Abington at 1 p.m. on Drake Field.
