Cutting Edge Sports Management, host of the 2014 Dream Bowl, has announced the addition of a trio of Morrisville State football players to its roster for the second annual game to be played Monday, January 20 in Virginia Beach.
Seniors Nate Ryan (Staten Island, N.Y.), Jeremy Stewart (Moravia, N.Y.) and David Williams (Central Islip, N.Y.) will represent Morrisville State on the squad.
The second annual Dream Bowl will be played at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex on Monday, and is showcase of the best NCAA Division III players from across the country. The game and series of events held over Martin Luther King Weekend is a celebration of the excellence, commitment and sacrifice made by the players and their families.
Ryan earned first team New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) accolades at offensive line this season. His stellar play on the line helped teammates Lemar Johnson, Cristian Pena, and Josh Powell dominate the NJAC as all three earned first team honors. Ryan helped the Mustangs rank ninth in offense in the country this season.
Ryan completes his career having earned all-conference honors three times, while earning a spot on the Division III Senior Classic, and FCS Senior Scout Bowl squads.
Stewart led the Morrisville State defensive unit with 70 tackles, including 42 solo stops this season, finishing his career as the all-time leader in tackles with 225. His ability to find the ball assisted him in intercepting three passes alone this season, ranking sixth in the NJAC, and leading to his third selection to the All-Conference honorable mention team.
He put together a best performance against Rowan on Oct. 12, intercepting a pass late in the fourth quarter to hand the visitors the 41-21 upset victory.
Williams was a driving force behind the Mustangs defensive line this season. The second team All-NJAC conference selection for a second time, posted a 52 tackle, three sack season, collecting six tackles for a loss, while forcing a fumble and recovering another three.
Williams had a season best performance in September against Hartwick, registering 10 total stops, including two sacks for a loss of 17 yards, and three total tackles costing the offense a loss of 18. He also recovered a fumble.
All three will be playing for the “Patriots” and Coach Jerry Flora, current head coach at William Paterson University. Practices and team meetings begin Friday, with kick-off scheduled for Monday at 1:30.
