New Paltz nets 4-1 victory over Morrisville State field hockey

Visiting SUNY New Paltz tallied two goals in the first half and added two more in the second, to claim the 4-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory Saturday evening in Morrisville.



Morrisville State took the early 1-0 lead, netting the first score of the contest just 45 seconds in as Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, NY) found Rebecca Quackenbush (Barker, NY) on the left of cage for the one-timer score.



Ten minutes later, Stacy Miller evened the contest at one, firing a shot from the top of the circle past Morrisville State keeper Paige Jerrett (Parish, NY). Nearly two minutes later, Alyssa Stock gave the Hawks the lead, scooping the ball into the cage from the top of the circle on a penalty corner pass from Miller.



New Paltz added two additional scores in the second half, within a two minute span of one another, en route to the conference win.



Jerrett recorded the loss in net for the Mustangs, saving two, while teammate Laura Blumenfeld (Rockland, NY) posted two saves in the second half of play.



Antonija Pjetri saved four in the win for New Paltz, who improves to 3-3 overall.



Morrisville State (0-4, 0-1 SUNYAC) returns to the field Friday at SUNY Geneseo.
