Pellegrino, Barrett named Mustang Athletes of the Week

The Morrisville State College athletic department has recently named sophomore Kelsey Pellegrino (Cicero, NY) and senior Sean Barrett (Hopewell Junction, NY) its Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 10.



Pellegrino, goalkeeper for the field hockey team, was instrumental to the team's 2-1 overall week, tallying 26 saves in three games while posting State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) wins over Oneonta and Oswego.



Pellegrino currently tops all goalkeepers in the SUNYAC in saves (107) and saves per game (7.64), and has tallied two shut outs this season for the Mustangs.



The graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High is majoring in health related studies at Morrisville State College. She is the daughter of Julie and Russ Pellegrino of Cicero.



Barrett, fullback for the Mustangs football team, carried the ball 75-yards on 12 attempts for two touchdown scores in the 31-28 loss to New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) foe William Paterson on Saturday.



To date, Barrett has recorded 305-yards (218 in the last two games) on 57 attempts for four touchdown scores, averaging 5.4 yards per carry and 61.0 yards per game. He is currently ranked eighth overall in the NJAC in rushing.



The graduate of John Jay High earned his associates in science degree in business administration from Morrisville State and is currently pursuing his baccalaureate degree in business administration as well. Barrett is the son of Lisa Sims of Hopewell Junction.
