Visiting Plattsburgh State hockey scored twice in the final period to top host Morrisville State College by a 6-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) final Saturday night in Morrisville.

Morrisville State slips to 1-1-0 overall, while Plattsburgh picks up their first win of 2011.

Curtis Renaud (Carlisle, ONT) led the Mustangs with two goals and an assist, while Jamie Nelson (Stratford, ONT) and Rafal Plonski (Warsaw, Poland) each added a score.

Kyle Kudroch and Mark Constantine each posted two tallies for the Cardinals in the victory, Barry Roytman and Vick Schlueter each added one apiece.

Morrisville State was the first to put numbers on the board in the high scoring opening period, as Geoff Matzel (Chittenango, NY) redirected a pass from James Jarvis (Pickering, ONT) into the stick of Renaud for the power play tally just 4:58 in.

Following a Mustang penalty, Plattsburgh was able to even the score just 26 seconds in, as Schlueter posted the power play tally at 6:21. A Plattsburgh score by Constantine midway through the period gave the Cardinals the one goal lead, but that was short lived as Renaud collected his second tally of the night on an assist from Tom Longland (Dunnville, ONT).

Just over two minutes later, Morrisville State regained the lead with a goal from Nelson, but Plattsburgh fought back to knot the contest at three on a power play at the end of the first.

Constantine posted the lone score of the second period, netting an unassisted tally on a power play opportunity 11:14 in. The Cardinals were 3-for-6 in power play's on the night.

Plattsburgh's Kudroch netted two quick tallies early in the third, but Jarvis found Jonathan Cristini (Mississauga, ONT) who hit Plonski for the fourth Mustang goal, cutting the Cardinal lead to two.

Mathieu Cadieux secured the win for Plattsburgh saving 31, including eight in the final period, as the Cardinals picked up the conference win.

Colin Breen (Waterloo, ONT) recorded the loss between the pipes, saving 35 in 47 minutes of play, before being relieved by Chris Azzano (Oshawa, ONT) for the final 12. Azzano had one save.

Morrisville State returns to the ice Friday, hosting Fredonia at 7 p.m. in the IcePlex.
