Relkoff, Nelson earn SUNYAC Player of the Week honors

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) released its player of the week award winners for the week ending February 13, naming Morrisville State's Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC) the Ice Hockey Goalie of the Week and Jamie Nelson (Stratford, NY) the Rookie of the Week.



Relkoff posted his second career shut out Friday, making 25 stops to secure the 4-0 conference victory over Cortland and on Saturday, turned away 37 in the 5-2 upset over #1 nationally ranked SUNY Oswego. On the week he tallied 62 saves in 64 shots faced for a .969 save percentage, improving his record in net to 9-10-1, and the Mustangs to an 11-10-1 record, 8-5-1 in SUNYAC play, a program best.



The human performance and health promotion major at Morrisville State has received numerous academic accolades, including SUNYAC Commissioner's List and All-Academic Team honors, and is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa honor society. Relkoff is the son of Anne Robertson and Ken Relkoff of Grand Forks, British Columbia.



Nelson, freshman forward for the Mustangs, tallied a goal and assist in the 5-2 upset victory over #1 nationally ranked Oswego on Saturday. He scored his fourth of the season 1:11 into the third period to give Morrisville State the 4-1 lead over the Lakers and assisted on the Mustangs fifth tally midway through the period to secure the conference victory.



The business administration major at Morrisville State is the son of Patti and Mark Nelson of Stratford, Ontario.
