Rochester nets 6-1 victory over Morrisville State

Visiting University of Rochester netted four first half goals and added two more in the second to top host Morrisville State College field hockey 6-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.



Alexis Vangellow (Pittsford, NY) tallied two goals and two assists to lead the Yellow Jackets on the afternoon, including the first score, sweeping the left post drive into the cage at the 17:39 mark.



Minutes later, Vangellow found Anna Dobrzynski (Pittsford, NY) on a penalty corner play to make it a two goal advantage. Just over two minutes later, Allison Beardsley (Weedsport, NY) collected the ball in front of net and tallied the unassisted score before Vangellow found Sarah Dixon (Fairport, NY) for the fourth Rochester tally on a penalty corner as time expired in the first half.



Shelby Hall (Hamburg,NY) and Vangellow each tallied a score in the second half for Rochester.



Morrisville State was able to put one on the board late in the game, as Stephanie Stahl (Greene, NY) hit Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, NY) at the top of the circle on a penalty corner for the score.



Laura Blumenfeld (Rockland, NY) recorded the loss in net for the Mustangs, saving 13, as Morrisville State drops to 0-9 overall.



Madison Wagner (Cheswick, PA) saved three in the win for Rochester, playing the first 60 minutes of the game, before being relieved in net by Mackenzie Sherwood (Pittsford, NY) in the final 9:34.



Morrisville State returns to the field Tuesday, traveling to Union College for a 4 p.m. start.
