David Rogers has been named vice president for academic affairs at Morrisville State College. Rogers, of Nelson, N.Y., has served as dean of the college's School of Business since June 1999. During that time, he has been instrumental in providing leadership for curriculum and program development and has provided strong guidance for the department. He has also led the school in the development and creation of the Morrisville State College Entrepreneurial Institute (MSCEI) and Morrisville VentureConnects, now offered through a partnership with The Tech Garden. Previously, he served as interim dean of the Norwich campus and the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources. As the chief academic officer, the vice president for academic affairs provides overall leadership for all operations related to instruction including program development, personnel decisions, resource allocation, and academic policy, review, and planning. Additional responsibilities include supervision and leadership of the Admissions Office, Athletic Department, and Student Services. Prior to joining Morrisville, Rogers served as the director of Institutional Research and Planning at Onondaga Community College. He has held faculty positions at Ithaca College, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Le Moyne College. “As president of the SUNY Business Council, vice-president of the Madison County Industrial Development Agency, and Patent Policy Board member for the SUNY Research Foundation, Dave's external relationships will serve us well in the new position,” college president Ray Cross said in an e-mail to the Morrisville campus. He replaces Jim VanRiper who retired in the spring. In addition to his experience, Rogers earned a Ph.D. in labor economics, collective bargaining and econometrics from the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University, a master's degree from Cornell and a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts.
