RPI nets 5-3 victory over Morrisville State field hockey

Kiersten Ryan scored twice to lead host RPI to a 5-3 victory over visiting Morrisville State College field hockey Saturday afternoon in Troy.



The Mustangs drop to 1-16 on the season.



Ryan registered two quick tallies for RPI within the first five minutes of the contest, before Alissa Peterson added another for the three goal advantage just eight minutes in.



Rebecca Quackenbush (Barker, NY) broke the scoring struggle for the Mustangs with an unassisted tally in the 23rd minute. Less than a minute later, Quackenbush struck again to cut the lead to one, netting the tally off an assist from Brandi Rafalko (Great Meadows, NJ).



RPI quickly regained the three goal advantage, netting two additional scores before the halftime period, for the 5-2 advantage.



Morrisville State's Olivia Bridges (Brighton, NY) cut into the RPI lead connecting off a Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, NY) pass, but RPI goalkeeper Hannah Clough kept the Mustangs scoreless for the final 20 minutes. Clough had five total saves in the contest.



Laura Blumenfeld (Rockland, NY) recorded the loss in net, making seven stops, while Alexis Tinnirello (West Islip, NY) had a defensive save.



Morrisville State returns to the field Wednesday, traveling to Nazareth for the season finale.
