Scott, Davis named Mustang Athletes of the Week

The Morrisville State College athletic department named women's basketball's Nijee Scott (Bronx, N.Y.) and men's basketball's Mickey Davis (Jamesville, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 8.



Scott led Morrisville State to a 1-1 record in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action, averaging 14.5 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals in two games on the week. In the loss to St. Elizabeth, Scott posted a 10 point, 10 rebound performance before recording her second straight double-double, tallying a season high 19 points and 12 rebounds the following day against Abington.



Currently averaging 10.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for the Mustangs, Scott ranks 3rd overall conference wide in offensive rebounds (41), 9th in rebounds per game (82), 7th in assists (30) and 13th in blocked shots (8).



The sophomore guard is a 2010 graduate of Harry S. Truman High and is majoring in liberal arts and science: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Alisa McCluney and Kevin Scott of Bronx.



Davis tallied 22 points and seven rebounds to lead the men's basketball team to its second conference victory on Sunday, a 92-79 defeat of Penn State Abington, remaining undefeated at 2-0. Davis added two assists and a steal, while shooting 10-for-17 from the floor.



The sophomore guard is averaging 19.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and is shooting 44.3 percent from the floor (72.1% from the free throw line) for the Mustangs, and currently ranks 1st overall in the conference in scoring (211 points, 19.2 ppg) and is second in three pointers scored (26-for-64).



A graduate of Jamesville-Dewitt High, Davis is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Margaret and Mickey Davis of Syracuse.
