Smiley, Ater named Mustang Athletes of the Week

The Morrisville State College athletic department has named women's basketball junior, Dyshea Smiley (Harlem, NY) and men's basketball freshman, Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, NY) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 30.



Smiley, point guard for the women, was instrumental in the 1-2 week for the Mustangs, contributing 10 points, four assists, six steals and three rebounds in the one point victory over Cazenovia on Wednesday. Six of her 10 came in the final two minutes of the contest. Over the weekend, she added eight points and five assists in the loss to Penn State Harrisburg, before posting a double-double against Gallaudet with 10 points and 12 assists.



Smiley is majoring in journalism and communication for online media at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Debra Smiley of Harlem.



Ater, forward, led Morrisville State to a 2-1 week, including an upset victory over conference leader Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday.



On the week he tallied 40 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and steals; posting a collegiate high 18 points and eight boards against Harrisburg. On Sunday, he tallied 14 points, dished out four assists and stole three in the loss to Gallaudet.



The computer science major at Morrisville State is a 2010 graduate of Bishop Grimes High. He is the son of Persilikla Depmac of Syracuse.
