Stein, Wood receive NEAC Player of the Week honors

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its player of the week selections, naming Morrisville State student-athletes, Andrew Stein (Oswego, N.Y.) and Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.), its men's and women's lacrosse players of the week for the week ending March 18.



Stein was selected the NEAC men's lacrosse offensive player of the week following his performance for Morrisville State in a 16-10 victory over Alfred University on Saturday. In the contest, he posted five goals on eight total shots and assisted two others to lead the Mustangs. He also collected two ground balls in the victory.



Currently leading Morrisville State in scoring with nine goals and three assists (12 points), Stein also ranks second in the NEAC in goals scored and leads the conference in points recorded.



The senior midfielder is a graduate of Oswego High and is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State. He is the son of Robert and Phyllis Stein of Oswego.



Wood earned North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West offensive player of the week honors in women's lacrosse, posting 11 points on nine goal and two assists in a 1-1 week for Morrisville State. She also registered 11 ground balls and eight draw controls, posting a team-best six points on five goals and an assist in the hard fought loss to Westfield on Friday.



Having tallied 11 goals and three assists in three games to date for the Mustangs so far on the season, Wood currently leads Morrisville State in scoring and is ranked fourth in the conference in goals scored and fifth in points tallied.



The freshman midfielder is a graduate of the Academy of Holy Names and is majoring in liberal arts and science: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Michelle and David Wood of Duanesburg.
