Townsley leads Morrisville State men at Cazenovia Invite

Morrisville State College sophomore Austin Townsley (Horseheads, NY) led the men's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the Cazenovia College Homecoming 8k Invitational Saturday afternoon, crossing in 16th position overall.



Townsley completed the race with a time of 29:58.2.



Benjamin Sargrad (Manlius, NY) was quick to follow, finishing in 18th place a mere two seconds behind Townsley.



Tim Austin (Clifton Park, NY) finished in 27th overall at 31:04.1 while Peyton Williams (Bronx, NY) was the fourth Mustang to cross the finish line, in 53rd position at 34:12.5. Carl Tausend (Cato, NY) rounded out Morrisville State scoring with a 57th place finish in 35:57.5.



Clarkson won the invitational with 28 points, followed by Paul Smith's with 81, Hartwick at 86 and Morrisville at 130. Wells, Onondaga, Cazenovia, Bryant and Stratton, and Colgate filled the remainder of the field positions.



The Morrisville State women finished the invitational in 8th place with 197 team points.



Kelcie Degenfelder (Collins, NY) was top finisher for the Mustangs, placing 38th overall with a time of 26:21.7 in the 5k run.



The men and women each hit the road Wednesday, running at SUNY Delhi.
