An unlucky bounce gave the Morrisville State College men’s soccer team a 2-1 loss Saturday afternoon to Houghton College at the Oswego Tournament in Oswego.

The Mustangs drop to 1-1 overall, while Houghton notches their first win of the season for a 1-0-1 record.

Houghton took an early 1-0 lead off an unassisted score early in the opening half, before Chernor Barrie (Bronx, N.Y.) got past a Highlander defender and fired past the goalie for the game tying tally in the 30th minute.

Knotted at one apiece, Houghton kept the offensive pressure on the Mustangs and in the 58th minute got lucky as a post shot rebounded to the foot of Houghton forward Cory Martin for the eventual game winning score.

Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) recorded the loss in net, making four stops.

Highlander keeper Jacob Dunnett posted the win, turning away four.

Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, opening conference play at Wells College.
