Varall advances to Zone Championships; Morrisville State hunt seat Reserve Regional Champion

The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team completed the season as the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone II Region 3 Reserve Regional Champion on Saturday, at the Van Lennep Riding Center at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

With a very competitive field in the riding arena, Morrisville State individual rider, Amanda Varall (Bohemia, N.Y.) claimed the regional title in the walk trot canter class, topping the field of 14 to advance to the Zone Championships held Sunday, April 7 at CW Post University’s North Shore Equine Center in Greenvale, N.Y.

Rachel Kenney (Esperance, N.Y.) just missed advancing to Zones, which takes the top two riders in each class, placing third overall in the intermediate equitation over fences and intermediate equitation on the flat class.

In other individual competition, Nicole Lefevbre (Clifton Park, N.Y.) placed eighth in the walk trot canter class; Jessica Gurda (Warwick Valley, N.Y.) sixth in the novice equitation over fences class; and Michelle Borbee (Bellerose, N.Y.) seventh in the novice equitation over fences class.
