Earning a bachelor degree moved closer to home for Chenango County residents.

The Norwich campus of Morrisville State College is offering classes this semester that will lead to a bachelor of technology degree in criminal justice, and technology management. Plans are to expand offerings into other degree programs in the future.

“Offering classes locally that lead to a bachelor degree provides an outlet for students who want to pursue their education, but face having to travel outside of the county,” Marsha Cornelius, Norwich campus dean, said.

The new offerings will take a bite out of costs associated with travel to the main campus and will save time, while outfitting students with hands-on, technical experience associated with a bachelor of technology degree.

Three-credit courses that will be offered this semester at the Norwich campus are; Investments, Analytical Marketing, which can be applied to the B.Tech in technology management, and Crime Scene Investigation and Management, Emergency Planning and Response, Terrorism and Law Enforcement, which can be applied to the B.Tech in criminal justice.

For more information or to register, contact Marsha L. Cornelius, dean, at 334-5144 or via e-mail at cornelml@morrisville.edu. Norwich classes begin Aug. 23.

The Norwich Campus is located at 20 Conkey Ave., adjacent to the Eaton Center in downtown Norwich.

The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the Morrisville campus.

The Norwich Campus also offers a range of non-credit/community education courses, customized training, and conference services.
