MORRISVILLE, NY—Sorcery, monsters, witches, demons, and a main character who had to stop a horrible ritual from happening, set the scene for a team of Morrisville State College students who participated in this year’s Global Game Jam.  The seven-member “Rite of Passage” team was among 40 students, alumni, staff, and students from the Lafayette Big Picture School who joined 36,000 participants from all over the world for this year’s massive event, recognized as the largest in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Nelson Farms, located in Nelson, NY will be giving a seminar at the 2016 New York Farm Show on Saturday, February 27, at 10 a.m. in the Bistro Room of the Arts & Homes Building, NYS Fairgrounds, Syracuse, NY. The seminar will answer questions about product development, legalities, product marketing, and how Nelson Farms may be able to help. The seminar is free for anyone who attends the New York Farm Show.
MORRISVILLE, NY— Lisa Iannello, of New Berlin, has been named Morrisville State College’s executive director of advancement and executive director of the Morrisville College Foundation. In this role, Iannello will lead the institutional advancement office in fundraising and scholarship efforts, and also oversee alumni affairs and the foundation board.  Iannello joined MSC in 2013 as grants coordinator, also serving as the interim executive director at the Norwich Campus of Morrisville State College during part of that time. 
MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College will hold an open house on Friday, Feb. 19.  The open house gives prospective students the opportunity to visit the Morrisville campus and interact with current college students and employees.  The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with a welcome ceremony in the student activities center (STUAC). There will also be academic presentations and facility tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College will once again serve as a host site for teams of artists, hobbyists, programmers, designers and musicians during the popular Global Game Jam ™ (GGJ) which will be held Jan. 29-31. Morrisville is one of only a handful of sites in New York State hosting the event, which is a chance for gamers throughout the world to collaborate, explore creativity, tout inventiveness and let their imaginations roam as they create playable video games in under 48 hours.
MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College President David Rogers will be speaking about entrepreneurship during a “How to Think Like an Entrepreneur” webinar which will be held Jan. 21, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Oxford Academy High School Auditorium. President Rogers will present “Connections to Entrepreneurism and Applied Learning” during the event, which is free and open to the public. 
MORRISVILLE, NY— Five Morrisville State students have been awarded Caterpillar/Milton CAT Scholarships by the Morrisville College Foundation. The $2,500 scholarships, awarded to students in the diesel technology/agricultural engineering programs, are based on academic achievement and financial need. Scholarship recipients are:
MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College student Justin Quiles, of White Lake, was recently awarded the Dr. McBride Criminal Justice Student Achievement Award by the SUNY Police Chiefs Association.  A junior in the college’s criminal justice bachelor degree program, Quiles is the first Morrisville student to receive the award since it was instituted in 2001. 
MORRISVILLE, NY— Dr. David E. Rogers was formally installed as the eighth president of Morrisville State College on Nov. 20, 2015 during a ceremony that showcased the close-knit MSC community.  A processional of MSC faculty, staff and delegates in full regalia, student veterans and an honor guard, were among those who walked from the college’s iceplex to the recreation center to herald the inauguration of their new president who was appointed by The State University of New York Board of Trustees in June 2015. 
MORRISVILLE, NY—It was Delroy Young’s first experience preparing a five-course meal. The Morrisville State College student selected two fried slices of zucchini from a large bowl, placed them atop a creamy beer cheese soup, then topped it with a chipotle crème fraiche and pea shoots.  “Looks good. Looks good,” said Chef Kerry Beadle as he peered over his shoulder.
