Dr. Joseph Bularzik, of Manlius, has been hired as dean of the School of Science, Technology and Health Studies at Morrisville State. In his new role, Dr. Bularzik is responsible for the leadership of the school, as well as directing innovative teaching, program development, and assessment strategies.
Stephen Sanders, currently of New Milford, Conn., has been hired as the director and head trainer of the Environmental Training Center (ETC) at Morrisville State. In the newly created dual role, Sanders will be responsible for both the daily operations and classroom instruction at the ETC, one of the leaders in wastewater and water certification training in New York State. He will assume his position in November.
Morrisville State's annual Autumn Review Sale set a record with the highest numbers in the 32-year history of the event. The dairy cattle sale focuses on Holsteins ranging in age from small calves to up to five- and six-year old animals.
Morrisville State College is hosting a presentation by Gabriel Bol Deng, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan, at 2 p.m., Oct. 2 in the STUAC theatre. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Morrisville State will host a presentation and book signing by award-winning author and educator, Dr. Laura Gray-Rosendale, on Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC). Gray-Rosendale, a President’s Distinguished Teaching Fellow, professor of English, and the director of the S.T.A.R. (Successful Transition and Academic Retention) English Writing Program for “at risk” students at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., is the author of the award-winning memoir, College Girl.
Morrisville State's dairy judging team recently took home honors from the 46th annual Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held during the 2014 All-American Dairy Show, in Harrisburg, Pa. The contest included dairy cattle evaluation and the delivery of oral reasons in defense of those evaluations. Awards were given to individuals and teams in each division for oral reasons, breed-specific results and overall results.
Ed Stone sat eagerly with a pen in his hand, marking up a sales booklet and keeping a close eye on a couple of his “favorite” Standardbreds as they entered the sale ring. “I never miss this,” said the Vermont resident who has been making the trip to Morrisville State's Annual Standardbred Sale for 20 years. This year's sale topped all others he has ever seen, breaking records in the top sale of a horse, the college's sale average and overall attendance.

Kim Smith, of South Plymouth, has been named associate dean in the School of Science, Technology and Health Studies at Morrisville State. Smith, who recently served as interim associate dean in the School of Science, Technology and Health Studies, has worked at Morrisville State since 2006. Throughout her tenure, she has also served as assistant professor of nursing and nursing department chair. Prior to working at Morrisville State, Smith worked as a staff nurse at Chenango Memorial Hospital, in Norwich, for 13 years.
Morrisville State College will welcome potential college students to open houses on Sept. 27 and Nov. 15 for a preview of the campus and what it has to offer. During the Sept. 27 open house, students can get answers to questions from Q&A's about admissions, academics, financial aid and more. There will be a welcome at 10 a.m. in the campus recreation center, followed by academic sessions at 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. An information session on the equine programs will be held from 1:30-3 p.m.
